    Educational Games in School

    By Anthoni Johnson

Last year there was a crackdown on internet gaming sites.  Students always found a new one to whittle away the 8 hours we have in school.  Mostly those games were just time wasters, but some games can have educational merit.  Lots of games can teach non-linear problem solving skills.  In other words some games can help think of a different solution to the same problem. People can think of the solution to a problem after they leave it for a while. To play a relaxing game to get your mind off of things for a while you just might get the insight to the solution to a problem.  In my opinion, we should be able to play games that incorporate the following: physics, math, science, business, hand-eye coordination, and general problem solving to promote our learning environment.

    Is Day Dreaming Healthy?

Having your head in the clouds is actually leading to a healthier life, the recent study shows. Research conducted by Dartmouth College showed that during daydreaming our brain is doing a very important job. During a study researchers tried to find out what exactly is happening when we are daydreaming, using brain imaging and participant's feedback technique. Dr. Avrum Geurin Weiss, a specialist in psychology with Pine River Psychotherapy Associates in Atlanta, said that while our brain is not really active during daydreaming, it processes very important tasks for us. He often uses daydreaming with his patients. Scientists say that when your mind wanders, imagining a bright future, we actually become happier and that helps us relieve stress. As it is known, too much stress can be extremely detrimental to our health, leading to serious illnesses. Thus daydreaming may aid us on a physical level too. Visualization of the future is making you good in many aspects of your life, specialists say. They claim that daydreaming can also lead to better problem Solving and those who tend to fantasize are known to be good at brainstorming. Although, scientists urge not to overindulge in daydreaming as you may totally lose a connection with present. There should be a right place and time for daydreaming to get the benefits. When you get nervous or feel stressed it is a high time to start daydreaming, experts recommend. So when you are mad at Mr. Sea for telling you should spent your time wisely just stare out to space and relieve some stress.

Do video games cause memory loss, anger and swearing?

They do not cause memory loss, anger, or even swearing. And no genuine health magazine on video games will state that it destroys parts of the brain. Those are all groundless statements based on the likely fact that the poster above probably doesn't like video games for his or her own reasons. In fact, it HAS been proven that video game IMPROVE some of your brain’s functions and destroys, in fact, NONE of them. For one, games involving constant motion and control most older side-scrolling games, flight/driving simulators, etc.) will improve hand-eye coordination and reaction time. Most useful skills to have when driving, as both help you avoid hitting other vehicles/objects on the road if you simply remain attentive while driving. First Person Shooters like Halo improve the brain's ability to pay attention to detail... logical, really, since you really have to pick out the little things on-screen when playing First Person Shooters. Tetris, as a classic example, improves the brain's ability to make things fit together (both literally, as in shapes, and figuratively, as in problem-solving. Other such games like Intelligent Qube have similar effects. Games that require physical movement such as Dance Dance Revolution or Wii Sports not only help the brain, but the body as well. Score another point for video games. Guitar Hero reduces the need to think about the coordination of strumming/fretting motions, and builds finger dexterity for both hands, thus actually helping to (somewhat) improve the guitar skills of beginning guitarists I speak from experience as well, since I myself am a guitarist whose skills have been improved by this game. So YES video games DO help the mind; and NO they DO NOT destroy it. Nor do they cause school shootings or any other type of violence and/or anger management related problems.

    Rustlers horoscope J

A storm maybe heading your way, so get ready. The best thing to do is to avoid the storm all together, but if you can't, be prepared. Tighten up as many loose ends as you can now so you won't have to deal with them when you may have much more pressing matters to deal with

Learn to compromise and life will be able to offer you a wider variety of possibilities. Opportunities may come up today that seem a bit outside what you are normally comfortable with. Don't be in such a rush to write new possibilities in different areas off

Today is a day to get up early, be first in line, and get first pick of what you are after. Competition is steep these days, so you have to take advantage of every asset you have. By being at the front of the line you demonstrate commitment and a need to beat out the competition

Today is the day to stop wasting your time over-questioning everything. If you think too much, you don't leave room for your questions to be answered. Have enough faith in yourself that the solutions will be obvious without you beating the subject to death

Think small today and look toward real estate, the Internet, or possibly local business. Stay away from the huge manipulated monsters today, as they are almost impossible to figure out. Go with what you know and pursue opportunities you can study firsthand

On this day, the right friends and relationships will transform you in a wonderful way, so take the time to arrange things so you can be with the right people. You tend to forget that you are profoundly affected by those you spend the most time with

This is a day to focus on your dreams. The stars are going to line up and all you have to do is be prepared. Make sure you have done all the homework and put your resources together in one place. Now, all you need is a little bit of star magic

Today, someone you love may try to control you and hold you back with guilt. Be careful, love is a wonderful emotion but it can also be used as a tool to control through guilt. You have to let people you love know you have limits and you cannot be controlled

If you're in a rut, today's the day to get back out in the world again. Life may be difficult, but it is the only game in town, so pick yourself up and get back in. When you do, you may realize that the hardest part of life is being out of the competition

The stars say fun is in the air tonight, so get dressed up nice and go out and experience life. The more you are cooped up inside the office or your home, the more you are cooped up inside your mind. Sometimes you have to get outside your walls be just be you

Take the time to digest new information today. After you've reflected upon it, make a decision and move forward. Once you've begun to act on a plan it is more difficult to go back and reflect, so get all the preliminary considerations out of the way before you begin

This is a great day to begin a new exercise program. It may take a bit of effort, but your body will thank you for it later. There is no better day then today to begin a plan that will show you the results you are after, so join a gym, take up a sport, or go ride your bike
